About This Item

Harmondsworth, Middlesex, England: Penguin Books. Very Good-. 1970. Reprint; First Printing. Paperback. Some reading and cver creases, some shelf and edge wear with small spit to base of spine. Some foxing to inside covers, endpapers and edges of reading block. ; Nice tight copy, no names inside. Cover artwork detail from Adam and Eve Sleeping by William Blake. Heavy book and priced accordingly. ; 512 pages; All well-to-do, all thirty-five-ish, ten couples living in Tarbox, New England, form an excusive, competitive group. Slipping in and out of affairs, their rituals are observed by the baleful eye of their self-appointed ringmaster, Freddy Thorne. .
