The section on slaves provides that the state's General Assembly could not emancipate slaves without the consent of their owners or without paying "a full equivalent in money." Anyone who maliciously dismembered or killed a slave would be subject to the same punishment as if the person harmed had been a free white person, "except in case of insurrection." Includes a list of the members of the state's constitutional convention, by county. Disbound; otherwise in Near Fine Condition: browning of pages; clean and tight.

The paper is browned and has some wear or pest damage at the corner of the front cover and the following leaf. The translation into English is, "Report of the Evan's Activities. Tennessee Lutheran Synod, during its Ninth and Twentieth Session, held at the Becks Church, Davidson County, N.C. From October 20th to 23rd, 1849." Rare. Worldcat lists other reports from the Evangelical Lutheran Church that were printed in Salem, N.C. in the 1820s to the 1840s, but we have not found a copy of this report listed.

Soft cover bound in original pink printed wrappers. The wrappers show wear and have sunning about the edges and soiling from handling. A sound copy. Signed in pencil at the top of the front wrapper, "J. A. Jarratt" or "S. A. Jarratt." Now housed in a removable board back plastic sleeve. The text block is sound, and the text is a bit toned and has just a little sporadic foxing. Bartholomew Figures Moore (1801-1878) was a North Carolina attorney and politician and was largely a Union loyalist during the Civil War He was born in Halifax County and graduated from UNC in 1820 and was a trustee of the University 1840-1868 and then again from 1871 until his death. He was a member of the NC Constitutional Convention of 1835 and was Attorney General of North Carolina (1848-1851).…
