This from the Authenticator:
"Copperplate leaf from Vivæimaginespartiumcorporishumaniaeneisformisexpressae&exTheatroanitomico, printed and published byJohann Theodor de Bry, Frankfurt, presumably the 1620 edition.
Here illustrating the nervous system, from tip of the spine to the toes, it depicts the latest state of medical knowledge – some four hundredyears ago.
The complete book from which this comes is rare (and costly) on the market, and scarce in institutional holdings, the worldwide census inthe lowest dozens.
Single plates, such as this, appear to be elusive on the market, with no offers located at this
time."
The photographs were taken while the leaf was within a protective sleeve, hence the ripples and reflections you may notice. The leaf has been stored in a climate controlled safe and this morning was the first time it has been removed and/or viewed in the last 12 years. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
I will ship within the CONUS only at buyer's expense, and only to the confirmed PayPal address. Given the unique nature of this item, returns are not accepted and the sale is final.

Description:
1852 softcover pamphlet discussing the downside of tobacco. When I got this the cover was off. Volume has had some restoration: cover is backed with matching paper and is reattached. Paper and binding are fragile but overall readable with a gentle touch. Primary defect is the corner off the front page. Interior has foxing and stains but no vandalism. I think the author comes out of the same group that published Solomon Spittle (which I also have listed). 1852 is the first year this was published but this is titled "Fourth Thousand" so this is an early printing. Has 8 plates that are included in pagination. 179 pages, complete as issued. An uncommon item generally found in poor condition. This is decent not great (which sometimes is the best you can do). Topic is health problems of tobacco. Discusses addiction, acute toxicity, chronic health problems including heart and lung disease as well as problems of second hand smoke. Feel free to inquire. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

"In this book, real life photos are used to help young people feel more comfortable with interacting with other children and making new friends. A Note From Fred Rogers: A child's first visit with a pediatrician usually comes soon after birth. It may be months or even years later, though, that a child first shows fear about going to see a doctor. The worry of an injection or some other unfamiliar medical procedure can trigger that fear. It can also appear because another family member may be feeling medical anxieties.
