London: Longman, Rees, Orme and Brown, 1817. leather_bound. Full maroon morocco.Aeg. Very good. 96 pages. 26.5 x 19 cm. First published 1711. Limited ediiton, Large Paper Copy [Imperial Edition], one of 200. With three ALS laid-in -- two from James Rimell & Son Ltd, a London Bookseller to Edgar H. Wells, rare book dealer in New York from 1921 to 1938 on Madison Ave., discussing the authenticity of the Imperial Edition, and one from Philip Hofer [to Wells] on New York Public Library letterhead, verifying this copy as an Imperial Edition together with bibliographical details for the various editions of this work. All letters dated 1932. Hofer also invites Wells to tea, offering to show him copies of the three issue described in his letter. With a series of engravings drawn by John Thurston. First few leaves toned, mostly marginal; infrequent additional and minor text spotting. Bookplate, half centimeter nick spine head with loss, slight joint rubbing, raised bands, spine panels richly gilt, cover border fillets encase gilt arabesques and corner florets, inner dentelles, marbled endpapers.
