London: J. H. Jackson. Very Good- with no dust jacket. 1844. Tenth Thousand. Hardcover. Bound in Full Vellum with gilt rules and 5 raised bands, 7 double gilt rules and Gilt Titling to the spine. The front and back covers have a small central Coat of Arms in Gilt with a Lion Rampant holding a Star at the top and 'Audaciter' underneath. Decorative inner dentelles. The vellum is beginning to split at the top front inner edge of the spine, but all hinges tight, and there are a few spots/marks here and there but overall a handsome binding - if plainish. Endpapers are glossy with small gilt stars all overthe pages. There is a small old heraldic, but plainish, bookplate on the front pastedown - and traces of a larger bookplate having been there before, o/w NO Inscriptions. Some light foxing ( light brown) spots, mainly to the prelims - but overall this is a Very Clean, Tight and Bright early copy. Psalm XXII; Introductory Epistle; On the Title of the Psalm. (xxix) + (3) + 419 pp + (1). Covering - Christ on the Cross In Darkness; & Christ on the Cross In Light. In 'Christ on the Cross.....' , The Rev'd John Stevenson shows how Psalm 22 reveals the thoughts and feelings of Jesus during the later part of His time on the cross, with a conclusion. A Handsome Edition. ; 12mo 7½" tall .
