Excerpts from Dickens' works involving children, including Pip, David Copperfield, Micawber Junior, Joe the Fat Boy, Oliver Twist, Jellyby children, Sissy Jupe, the Cratchits, Jenny Wren, Little Nell, the Kenwidges, Bailey, the boy at Todgers's, the Dombey children, Jemmy Jackman Lirriper, Alicia in Wonderland (Alice Watkins); with brief introductions to each selection & short chapters on London & Dickens himself. Hardcover. First edition (first printing) with same date on copyright & title page, Scribner's seal on copyright page. Book shows some wear & spotting, a few small holes in the cloth, small dent to upper edge of front board, gold border of full-color pastedown on front cover rubbed; jacket shows a little edgewear & spotting, minor chipping; light foxing to page edges and some of the plates, gift note scrawled across page opposite half-title. Text clean; [vii], blank, 259 pages; 10 color plates as called for.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Very Good. Illus. by Jessie Willcox Smith. Quarto.
