Rigby Limited, Adelaide, 1968. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Ben Cropp -- Photographer. VIII, 52 pages, last page blank. Aqua coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with both coloured and black-and-white photography. Photographic covers, showing dolphins performing against a green background and white title to the backstrip. Bumping rubbing to the corners of the backstrip and to the book corners. Shelf wear to both the top and bottom edges. Spine is slightly cocked and there is light browning to the text block edges. On opening the book there is a distinct musty smell. Photographic dustwrapper, with white titles to the front panel and backstrip. The dustwrapper is in really poor shape. Author photograph to the rear fold over panel. The top rear dustwrapper edge has been torn in a rough V shape, with the entire edge being affected, at the deepest point of V shape it is 1.5 " deep. The top edge of the front panel is creased and there is a tear measuring 0.75 " and the top 0.25 "is missing for 2" from the backstrip. The lower front dustwrapper are edge has a tear measuring 1.25 " with the laminate lifting from the underlying paper. Rubbing creasing is also present to what is left of the dustwrapper edges and there is rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners. There has been bleeding of the book colour to the verso of the dustwrapper. A book for children about the early life and capture and eventual performing of dolphins at Sea World on the Gold Coast in Australia. This is the first Australian edition.
