London: Faber and Faber, 1978. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 9" by 11.5". Leonard Baskin. A smart first edition of this intense collaboration from Ted Hughes and Leonard Baskin. First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-seven full-page images. Collated complete. A collection of poetry including: After the first fright, The accused, A riddle, The scapegoat, The owl flower, and many others. Written by Edward James Hughes, an English poet, translator, and children's writer who was appointed Poet Laureate in 1984. Illustrated by Leonard Baskin, an American sculptor, draughtsman and graphic artist, as well as a founder of the Gehenna Press. In the original black cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light chipping resulting in minor loss to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Near Fine
