About This Item

Chicago, Illinois: The University of Chicago Press / The Newberry Library, 1968. 1968. First Edition. 2 volumes complete. Brand New in a Brand New dust jacket. PERFECT condition (just removed from the publisher's protective brown paper wrapping so we could write this description). NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO rubbing. NO fading. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NOT a library discard. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a remainder. Fresh and crisp -- obviously never read. Listed here are 4,801 prime Western Americana items with detailed collations, binding descriptions, and cross references to other standard bibliographies. Expertly annotated. Described in AB BOOKMAN'S WEEKLY (15 May 1989) as: "A monumental catalogue... a standard reference work for Western Americana." Compiled by one of the 20th century's most outstanding bookmen, this bibliography is frequently cited in the catalogs of Americana specialists. Extensive index of names, titles and subjects. Also useful is the list of 235 Western Americana reference works which can be used as a guide in building a top notch reference library. Bound in the original brick red cloth, stamped in bright gold over a black panel on the spine. From the dust jacket: "The Everett D. Graff Collection of Western Americana consists of some 10,000 books, manuscripts, maps, pamphlets, broadsides, broadsheets, and photographs, of which about half are described in the present catalogue… Detailed collations and binding descriptions are provided, references to other bibliographical descriptions are cited, and many of the more important works have been annotated by Mr. Graff and Mr. Storm. An extensive index of persons and subjects makes the book useful to the scholar as well as to the collector and dealer." Complete with the separately issued 17-page INDEX TO MAPS IN THE CATALOGUE compiled by Brenda Berkman and Robert W. Karrow, Jr. Published in 1972, it is a subject index to 860 maps in the Graff catalogue. Tanselle Basic Collection #98. Oversize Hardcover. 7.75" wide by 10.25" tall. This large, heavy book will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments, but only the standard charge for media mail.. First Edition. Oversize Hardcover. New/New. xxv, 854pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.
