Edinburgh: Edmonston and Douglas, 1867. Brown cloth boards with paper title label. Title label has some missing portions, boards have some light marks and a little wear to spine head and tail and corner tips. Internally the front free endpaper has been removed (although this is not an ex library copy), end papers have light foxing as does the closed edges but generally a clean copy. 234 pages. Interesting publisher's catalogue bound in at rear. Authorised translation ( translator not named ) with letter from the author to the publisher dated July 16th 1867. The author is Valérie Boissier, comtesse de Gasparin, wife of Agénor Étienne, comte de Gasparin a French statesman and author. The novel has a Christian theme. **** SCARCE **** B2B. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
