Tokyo: Koudansha, 1981. First edition.. Fine copy in the original fine slipcase still in the publisher's pictorial shipping box.. Pp. 272, 48 full page fine color plates, 192 text-figures - 32 are in color. Original blind-stamped orange cloth, in the original cloth-backed color pictorial slipcase (and in the publisher's shipping carton which also has a color pictorial title/author label), lg 4to. Text in Japanese but with Latin names and some English phrases used throughout. The volume has high manufacturing standards and is extremely scarce. It is likely the most uncommon 20th century butterfly book - probably due to a print run of 500 or less copies.
