The authors present early works of 84 remarkable people from the great fifteenth-century book illuminator Pol de Limbourg to the Holocause diarist Anne Frank. There are reproductions in color of paintings, drawings, letters, essays and musical compositions. For example--the earliest known drawings by the great German Renaissance master Albrecht Durer including a self-portrait in silverpoint made when he was only thirteen years old; sculpture of 18-year-old Michelangelo; youthful writings of Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Victor Hugo, Marcel Proust; musical compositions by child and youth compositions of Mozart, Schubert and Mendelssohn. And other important and influential figures such as scientists Louis Pasture and Andre Ampere.
