First hardcover edition, published by the University of Chicago Press, 1997. Letters that Brassai wrote to his parents as a student in Paris. Published in English here for the first time. Translated from Hungarian by Peter Laki and Barna Knator. 274 pages, 6-1/4" X 7-3/4', with Index and two sections of photos. Includes several examples of his photographs in the photo sections. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. Sturdy hardcover boards, with black cloth covered spine. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the text block are clean. Not a remainder, not a library discard copy. Sewn binding is tight and square. Attached are some photos of the copy we have in our inventory.
