Washington [1856 - 1915] was a leader of the African American community between 1890 and 1915. Celebrated as an educator, author, orator and adviser to multiple presidents of the United States, he was also the founder of the National Negro Business League and the first leader of the current Tuskeegee University. Washington died 1 year after this autograph was given on Nov. 14, 1915.
