About This Item
New York: The Century Company. Good. 1920. Hardcover. 44 pages; A delightful collection of amusing drawings and rhymes featuring cats, kittens and several other animals. Many of the rhymes take the form of cautionary tales for parents and children. This Victorian illustrated volume is a classic. Contents complete and unmarked, except for two initial drawings with hand shaded backgrounds. At some point in the history of this book, the original spine has been replaced with black cloth tape; boards rubbed at edges; front endpaper lacking; tape removed from hinges of two early leaves; a couple short marginal tears with old repairs. A later printing of a great Victorian book with b&w illustrated plates worthy of matting and framing. .
