About This Item

Kassel: Edition Cantz, 1992. Pamphlet. 62, [2] pages, illustrations, wraps. 8x6.25 in. Covers show minor signs of handling and are a little dusty along the spine. Catalog for Flatz's installation at the Fridericianum in Kassel for Documentia IX, swinging punching bags hung from the ceiling, each weighing as much as Flatz, meant to obstruct the path of visitors. With an essay by Stuart Morgan and transcript of a conversation between Jan Hoet, Denys Zacharopoulos, Pier Luigi Tazzi, Bart de Baere and Flatz. Known mostly for his performance and action art, Flatz handed out flyers at Documentia VI (1977) announcing he would not be attending Documentia. The Flatz Museum opened in Dornbirn, Austria, the artist's hometown, in 2009.
