Edinburgh: William P. Nimmo. Good with no dust jacket. c1875. Hardcover. unpaginated but approx 365 pages. Two days per page, plus a page with blanks opposite each day to fill in names. Blue cloth with exuberant black and gilt Victorian decoration, gilt ruling, spine equally decorated in gilt, a bit of rubbing at extremities and joints, gilt edges, title page in red and black, every page in red and black with red ruling, occasional charming engravings, no names have been filled in on this example. However, there are the proverb collectors bookplates of Keir, Sir John Stirling Maxwell and de Guinzbourg. No date, but these "birthday books" were produced by Nimmo from at least 1873-1885. Not common in commerce or in Worldcat. A charming example of a Victorian birthday book with wonderful proverbial provenance. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall .
