About This Item

New York: St. Martins, 1972 St. Martin's Press, New York. 1972. Hardcover. First Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for ex-library stamp on front pastedown. Book Condition: Fine. DJ: VG+; closed tears on top of DJ, slight chipping at heel cover. Black boards and spine with bright gold lettering on spine. 216 pages. Wars throw up characters of unusual interest and though this dictionary is essentially a work of reference, it is rich in inherent human interest, and can be read as a form of narrative. All the people in the book were known to the public or sections of the public during WWII and contributed something to the conduct of the war or its atmosphere. A reference work of the utmost fascination. A clean very presentable copy in Brodart mylar.
