A very good copy in a fine dust jacket. The emerging rules of life for seaman of the British Empire which became a period of transition from the past which was life of "rum, sodomy and the lash" to able seamen who learned teamwork and working with the improved technology as iron hulls began to replaced wooden walls and the firepower of the turret created a formidable navy which now could explore the Pacific, enforce the laws against the slave trade and open up the world to British trade.
