Full blue-green cloth, gilt titles on spine & facsimile signature on front board; xiii, 431 pp, 8 ff b & w photo plates, index. One corner bumped. DJ with slight edge wear, corners clipped but price still present; in Brodart archival cover. From the DJ of volume one: "Bernard M. Baruch--one of the most remarkable men of our time--was an office boy at nineteen, a Wall Street partner at twenty-five, and a milllionaire before he was thirty-five. ... In the fifty years since he made his first fortune, Bernard Baruch has been a trusted counselor of presidents, an adviser on social and economic reforms...." This volume begins with Baruch's departure from Wall street, after which he served as chairman of the War Industries Board during World War One, and on the peace missions at the ends of both World Wars.
