Longmans published the First Edition of the great philosopher's autobiography in 1873, the year of his death; Holt began publishing it in the following year, and continued on into the Twentieth Century. There is no publication date for this copy, but it contains the note that it is "Published by arrangement with the author's executor," indicating a very early printing if not the First. This is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy. Dark brown cloth binding, ruled, and with gilt titling on the spine. Clean text; 313 pages, quite bright and fresh. There is a small bookplate on the front paste-down and some minor rubbing to the margins; else a Fine copy, and quite readable today.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
