About This Item

Ancient world 746 (Assyria). Garelli, Paul. Les Assyriens en Cappadoce. (Series: Bibliothèque Archéologique et Historique de l'Institut Français d'Archéologie D'Istanbul, Volume XIX). Paris: Librairie Adrien Maisonneuve, 1963, 418 pp, 2 folding maps at rear, half-title, biblio, index. This work is a comprehensive study of all archived documentation on the Assyrians merchants who lived in the Cappadocian town of Kanis, near Caesarea. Garelli examined everything published on this subject, critically considering all that was written and formulated his new conclusions based on these studies. His personal observations during his travel to Anatolia were a vital aid contributing to these conclusions. [W. F. Leemans, Journal of the Economic and Social History of the Orient, 1965]. The work is divided into four parts, contents as follows: Part I: Le Milieu: Le problème chronologique: Les débuts de l'implantation assyrienne - La ruine de Kanis. Conclusion. This is a paperbound work, in good, solid condition. All the pages are still uncut. Garelli was an expert on the Assyrians. $40.00
