Each volume is a First Edition, First Printing and 9-1/4 x 6 inches. Issued without dust jackets. Slight shelf wear. Clean text and tight bindings with old labels removed on front spines. Colour foldout map tipped-in to rear pastedown of each volume. Very good condition.
Best single bibliography on the subject. Volumes 1 and 2 contain 20,003 annotated entries. Volume 3 is a thorough index by sub-topic Volumes 1, 2 & 3, are by far the most useful and referred to of the original 16 volume set produced.
These first three volumes cover the early era of Arctic exploration and are an indispensable reference for anyone interested in the history and literature of the Arctic.
Published for, and in cooperation with, the Department of Defense under the direction of the Arctic Institute of North America.
