Catholic theologian Francois Fenelon (1651-1715) was a strong supported of Human Rights and connected with the "Quietism" heresy, hence he was a controversial but popular author.(and poet). This is a Very Good copy of the Fourth Edition (stated). Marbled paper-covered boards with spine and tips of black leather. Five raised bands on the spine, with gilt titling and decorations. Clean text; 272 pages; there are contemporary notations on page 157. Rubbed at the margins; the front endpaper has come loose but is present. . Fourth Edition. Quarter-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
