And From Thence Continued by Several Prorogations to the Eighteenth Day of November, 1746, Being the Sixth Session of this Present Parliament. [Bound With] An Abstract of All the Acts Passed in the Sixth Session of the Ninth Parliament of Great Britain, And in the Twentieth Year of the Reign of Our Most Gracious Sovereign Lord King George the Second. London: Printed by Thomas Baskett, 1747. 180, [2] pp. Folio (12" x 7-1/2"). Contemporary paneled calf, gilt royal arms to boards, rebacked and recornered in period style with raised bands and blind fillets to spine, original lettering piece retained, blind tooling to board edges, edges rouged. Moderate rubbing to boards, a few small scuffs, nicks and scratches, heavier rubbing and some wear to board edges, corners bumped, hinges cracked, lower corner of rear free endpaper lacking. Light toning to interior, somewhat heavier in places, light foxing in a few places. An appealing copy. $750. * A collection of 52 acts passed in the sixth session of the ninth Parliament of Great Britain, with tables listing the titles of the public acts and summaries of 32 private acts. Many of the public acts reflect the Jacobite Rising of 1745 and its aftermath, such as the repeated suspension of habeas corpus, an "Act for Vesting the Estates of Certain Traitors in His Majesty" and the "Act for Abolishing the Heretable Jurisdictions in Scotland." The volume also includes a 1747 act extending the provisions of the Plantation Act of 1740, which allowed for the naturalization of Jews and Quakers in America.
