London: printed for T. Osborne, et al., 1757. First printing. Print. Very good condition. A beautiful engraving from the first edition of this important 18th-century gardening book. The book itself was issued in 60 weekly parts between 1756 and 1757, and was available with plates uncolored or colored.

Folio, 16 5/8 x 10". Copper engraving with period hand-coloring, engraved by J. Hill, engraved in the lower right corner but obscured by the mat. Nicely framed in gilt cornered frame with silk mat board and gilt filet edge.

The complete title "Eden: or, a Compleat body of Gardening, Containing Plain and Familiar Directions for Raising the Several Useful Products of a Garden. Compiled and digested from the papers of the late celebrated Mr. Hale..."
