About This Item

Norwalk, Conn: The Easton Press, 1964. [1964] This is the FULL GENUINE LEATHER, VOLUME II HARDCOVER by Easton Press --- NOT THE REGULAR TRADE CLOTH BINDING OR THE CHEAPER COMPOSITE LEATHER. Vol. II: Portrait of a President. Note: We believe the book was published in 1985 by Easton Press, although the copyright page states 1964. However, this is the most desirable volume, since it addresses Andrew Jackson as the 7th President of the United States. Deep red full leather binding features beautiful gilt design and gilt lettering, frontispiece, vintage illustrations and photos, index. Three raised ridges on spine. Lettering, design stamped with gorgeous accents of 22kt. Gold --- a hallmark of fine bookmaking. Leather was hand selected from individually tanned hides. Textured, shaded; acid-neutral paper won't turn yellow over time. Smyth-sewn pages into binding for permanence (not glued like ordinary books). Edges gilded three sides to enhance the elegance of the book. Endpapers feature repeating design of Presidential Eagle. Satin ribbon page marker bound in. Condition: Minor scuffs to fore-edge, else in Fine condition. Never Read. Book purchased by collector and kept in temperature-controlled bookcase. Free of smelly humidity stains or the smell of a smoker. A beautiful, historical book in full leather. Andrew Jackson was elected President of the United States after John Quincy Adams. His style of government was called Jacksonian Democracy. He was criticized for expanding the power of his presidential position --- going over and beyond what was customary before his time. A wonderful, fact-based book in full leather. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical, vintage book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . Leather. Fine.

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
