Very light wear to the book, a touch more to the tips, corners and edges of the jacket; previous owner's bookplate, else clean and unmarked. First edition/printing. "A" present.Part 2 of a 2 volume study of the history and development of Christianity in America by three religious scholars of the the first half of the 20th century. H. Shelton Smith was a scholar of Christianity who spent most of his career as a professor at Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. He received his B.A. from Elon College (now Elon University), was ordained as a minister by the United Church of Christ, and served in 19181919 as first lieutenant and chaplain with the American Expeditionary Force in France. Rev. Handy served as a pastor, an army chaplain, a college instructor, and a professor of church history for 36 years at Union Theological Seminary, where he retired as Henry Sloane Coffin Professor of Church History. He was a writer, an editor, and also served as Adjunct Professor of Religion at Columbia University. Lefferts A. Loetscher was an Associate Professor of Church History at Princeton Theological Seminary. Most items ship with tracking numbers and (generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable.
