Large 8vo, 8 volumes "Encyclopedic yearbooks for each year of the war: excellent for congressional summaries, and still a most useful tool." Civil War Books II, p. 3. The first eight volumes of the encyclopedia, a complete run for the Civil War years, providing a detailed account of the conflict, together with the first three years of reconstruction, with illustrations. Bound in publisher's half tan morocco, marbled boards, gilt title & year on spine. Each volume approx. 800pp, text in two columns. Leather with minor rubbing, overall a very pleasant, clean set, the spines uniformly bright.
