About This Item
Recklinghausen: Self Published, 1959 In German. Roughly translates to: The Ancient American Calendar System in Light of a New Paper Presented at the Joint Meeting of the German Society of Ethnology and the Austrian Ethnological Expeditions and Research Society, October 25-30, 1959 in Stuttgart. Stapled spine.Lain in is a folded chart entitle The Raven and the Carcass in Literature and Art to which someone has sketched a native drawing of a raven. From the collection of Wayne Prescott Suttles, renowned anthropologist, scholar, and linguist regarding many Pacific cultures, and especially the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast Salish people. His name inked to the front cover. It was inscribed to "Dr. Wayne" and Dr. Suttles added the last name in his own hand. Additionally, on the title page is another inscription in German, but I cannot make it out. Condition notes: 42 numbered pp; PB. Pages: clean, ivory, tight; all edges well sunned. Cover: well tanned cream paper, b/w symbol front; lt edge/shelfwear, a few tiny tears, corners thumbed. Fascinating, with calculations and illustrations.
