An early edition, published only five years after the first edition.The printing number to the title page has been rubbed, but it is between the twenty first thousandth and the twenty fifth thousandth.Illustrated with a frontispiece and illustrations throughout.One page of adverts to the rear. 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', is one of the best known children's books of all time, and has become the favourite to children and adults alike. It follows Alice as she falls through a rabbit role into a strange world with talking animals and magical potions. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Spine and margin of the front board is faded. Some light marks to the boards and spine. Small chips to the head and tail of the spine, with a small chip to the rear joint. Crack to the rear joint. Booksellers label to the rear paste down. Front endpaper is lifting to the tail. Rear endpaper has been excised. Internally, binding is strained in place, pages 65-72 are detaching. Synopsis

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
