'This beautiful volume, containing both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, is published to mark the centenary of Lewis Carroll's death. For over one hundred years the extraordinary adventures of Alice and the strange creatures she meets have appealed to children of all ages. . . [These books] were both first published by Macmilland with black and white illustrations by Sir John Tenniel which have become an inseparable part of the books. In 1911 Macmillan commissioned Harry Theaker to create eight colour plates for each book from Tenniel's black and white line drawings. Now Diz Wallis has coloured the remaining illustrations in the style of Theaker to create a stunning full-colour edition to appeal to a new generation of children.' Illustrated. 195+240 pages. 7.5 x 9.75 inches..

Synopsis

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
