New York: H.M. Caldwell Company. Leather. Very Good. 204p. A small hardcover book attractively bound in 3/4 red leather with marbled boards and endpapers, gilt decorations on the spine, and a gilt top edge. Excellent condition for its age! Very light wear at the head of the spine, and the corners are lightly rubbed. Otherwise, pages clean and unmarked, and binding tight. A novel about a wealthy heiress who purchases a castle in France and stirs up controversy because the Catholic locals believe she is a Protestant heretic. The story was adapted into both silent and sound films in France. Originally published in 1882; this is an undated English edition, ca. 1890s. The author, besides writings novels, was co-librettist with Henri Meilhac on the opera CARMEN. Measures approx. 6.5" x 4.5

Expedited shipping is $12.00 and is by either priority Mail or UPS. Delivery is within 2-6 business days and includes tracking and insurance. Orders of multi-volume sets and unusually heavy books may incur additional charges. You will be notified before the order is processed. Sales tax of 7.50% is added to shipments within Ohio. Payment is accepted by check, major credit card, or paypal.
