About This Item

Various: Various, 1967. First Edition . Cloth. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Four Gordon R. Dickson novels - three first editions and 1 book club edition - with association status, all being from the collection of John E. Stith, the Nebula-nominee author of Redshift Rendezvous, Reunion at Neverend, Manhattan Transfer, Reckoning Infinity, Death Tolls, Scapescope, Deep Quarry, and Memory Blank, and signed by him with a statement to that effect. The titles are: The Space Swimmers (first edition, Sidgwick & Jackson 1967, a very good book in an unclipped very good jacket); Sleepwalker's World (first edition, Lippincott, 1971, about near fine book in an unclipped near fine jacket); Forever Man (first edition, Ace, 1986, near fine book in an unclipped near fine jacket); and Three to Dorsai (book club edition, Nelson Doubleday, 1975, near fine book in a near fine jacket). All four are signed by Sith, three on the front free endpaper, one on the half-title, with the preceding words "from my personal collection". This unusual wording (one would not expect Stith to feel a need to write that phrase on books as he added them to his collection) is apparently due to the fact that he did not sign them until he sold them, and he was at that time requested by the original (i.e., secondary) owner to authenticate that they had, in fact, come from Stith's collection. Provenance thread provided to purchaser. LG11
