Emanuel van Meteren was a 16th-century Flemish historian who is known for his histories on the Low Countries. He chronicled many of the events of the late 1500s in the Netherlands and Belgium. Perhaps his most important book was "Historia Belgica" which was a thorough history of the Netherlands focusing on the reigns of important monarchs and military leaders. Notable figures covered in this work include:
