Description:
Tokyo: Gyosei, 1994. Paperback. 147p., very good trade paperback in yellow wraps; Text in Japanese, second printing. The author is a professor of education and states that his purpose is to see what Japan can learn from the mistakes of the United States, where the family has broken down and children have turned to crime, drugs, guns, and sex. He quotes numerous statistics about the prevalence of sexual experience at young ages and high divorce rates. He notes the liberalization of sexual norms in the US that occurred with the feminist movement and describes a recent reaction against that and toward traditional views of the family - which he terms the Bridges of Madison County Phenomenon (may not have noticed that Bridges was about an affair). Contains illustrations and tables designed to be used in overhead projector type presentations to students in primary and secondary education - giving basic info about AIDS, basic of sex education, encouraging abstinence.
