Also, the Pennsylvania Railroad operated a tie treatment plant with its own 2-ft. gauge railroad. As the Pennsylvania Railroad relocated its mainline around the center of town and the tie plant and brick manufacturers have closed, Mount Union is not the railroad center it once was.
