Description:
Australia: Australian Federation of Jewish Ex-Servicemen & Women, 198. Very good. Octavo, 23.5 x 16 cm, 225 pp., ill. Foxing on endpapers and fore edge. The dustjacket is lightly soiled but good, chips to upper and lower spine and tiny tear to front upper edge. Bound in original cloth. Members of the Jewish community served with distinction in all branches of the Australian Armed Forces during World War II. This book records the stories of these servicemen, including details of their bravery citations, and also those of war journalists, war artists and military chaplains. The work of Jewish women in Nursing and other Services and in civilian work in the Red Cross and Comforts Funds is noted. Fifty-six illustrations are mostly photo-portraits of those with distinguished records or those who died in service. Included are a list of those who served and an honour roll.
