Pp.96, colour and black & white photo illustrations throughout, signed by author to half-title page, also has the signature of World War II flying ace Peter Ayerst DFC to half-title page. Illustrated stiff card covers, minor curling to lower corner tips. VG.** Peter Ayerst was an RAF ace who took part in first dogfight of the Second World War by MISTAKE and was last survivor of the Battle of France. Flying Hurricanes and Spitfires, Wing Commander Peter Ayerst DFC survived combat operations in the Battle of France, Battle of Britain, El Alamein and D-Day. In 1944 he was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Flying Cross for his gallantry and devotion to duty.
