A facsimile edition of the New York edition of 1845 which incorporates 6 additional plates from the London edition of 1844 not included in the American edition. Set number 626 of 950, signed by Dana Pratt Director of Publishing Library of Congress, and Robert Abrams President of Abbeville Press. Catlin's "North American Indian Portfolio" reflects his years-long effort of painting, living, and traveling among the Great Plains Indians. He had studied law but disliked it.
