Adam Silverman Ceramics Hardcover - 2013

by Lisa Gabrielle Mark (); Brooke Hodge (); Julie Lazar ()

From the publisher

Adam Silverman is the face of a new generation of artists focused on ceramics and pottery, a medium that has not had major presence in the contemporary art world for many years. Incorporating traditional pottery techniques with his own experimental approach, Silverman creates works that are sensual, gritty, and beautiful. He uses unique glazes to give his pieces abstract lacy or gestural surfaces. Silverman has exhibited extensively and has a large, growing audience in the United States as well as in Japan, where his work is collected by Tadao Ando and Takashi Murakami, among many others. A breathtaking and informative overview of his work, Adam Silverman Ceramics is a landmark volume for all who appreciate ceramics, design, and modern sculpture as well as contemporary art.

Media reviews

“A ceramics book, and a ceramicist, that break the mold.” ~New York Times

It’s a book that achieves its goal of being an object rather than merely a catalogue of work.” ~CoolHunting

“…irresistibly, delectably, most erotically gorgeous…I can’t stop looking at it...the stunning volume explodes antiquated distinctions between fine are and applied art, craft and design. The images convey not only the vessels’ tactile allure but also their weight and presence, each piece is an object of wonder.” ~Architectural Digest

“With a foreword by Shepard Fairey, and sharp photography that captures the gritty, primitive nature of his work, the tome is a must read for fans of contemporary ceramics.” ~C California Style Magazine

“...images are so detailed, they make the reader want to reach out, touch the pages and feel the potter’s crusty glazes.” ~Los Angeles Times
