Nile Notes of a Howadji: A Bibliography of Travelers' Tales from Egypt, from the Earliest Time to 1918 Hardcover - 1992

by Martin R. Kalfatovic

From the publisher

This book is the definitive bibliography of published literature on Egypt from the earliest times to 1918, published as monographs or as parts of collected travelers' tales. Limited to firsthand accounts of Egypt by travelers who actually visited there, it excludes pure guidebooks and books of strictly historical, anthropological, archaeological, or political interest. Works in all the European languages (including Cyrillic languages) are included, or works translated into those languages. With a map and a historical sketch of travel to Egypt.

An appealing bibliography which describes some 1,150 published accounts of Egypt by visitors from the earliest times to the end of the First World War. Coverage extends to books, parts of books and monographs by travellers and other visitors, but excludes pure guidebooks and books of strictly historical, anthropological, archaeological, or political interest.
