Topics in the first portion of this volume include the Scotch-Irish, Quakers, Germans and Virginians, the first settlers in Eastern Ohio, pioneers with some first-hand accounts, early days in Cadiz with a list of original lot owners, Harrison County in 1813 with lists of settlers (by township) and county officials. It also covers the churches of: Beech Spring, Crabapple, Unity, Nottingham, Freeport, Dickerson, Bethel, Rankin, and Ridge; plus early churches of Cadiz. The second portion of this volume contains transcriptions of county land records for the first land owners-complete with full names and dates; early marriage records (1813-1840) with the full names of the bride and groom, the presiding official and the date; burial records-grouped by location; and will abstracts (1813-1860). The final 128 pages of this book are devoted to brief genealogical sketches. A map of Harrison County in 1900, several portraits and illustrations enhance the text.
