Van Nostrand Company, New York, 1948 A well preserved and quite rare book on typography. Hardback folio sized volume, with no jacket. Good art paper used for the text block, so there is no foxing, although the page edges are a little tanned. Handsome and characteristic design for the front cover is stylishly blind embossed on the red cloth boards. Spine has a black panel with gilt titling on it. A small red stamp on the front end paper has the name of an English advertising agency on it. Numerous examples of type usage and faces, and the whole publiction celebrates the tools and paraphernalia of type long before the digital age.
