Berkeley: University of California Press 1967. (Hardcover) 317pp. Very good in good to very good dust jacket. The dust jacket has minor edgewear and chipping, is a bit rubbed, has a small scuff on the front cover where a price label has been removed, and the spine is faded. Still, not a bad copy of a scarce book. Translated by Lindy Foord & Rayner Heppenstall. (Fiction).

Collins, Greenville : Chart of Milford Haven, from Great Britain's Coasting Pilot, ca.1760. Copper engraved chart. Map size approx 560mm x 440mm. Wide margins, hand coloured, good impression on heavy paper, showing the Welsh coast at Milford Haven. Compass rose, rhumb lines, scale. Cartouche with cherub, dedicated to Sir Hugh Owen. Light water stain to top margin just touching printed area, otherwise a very good, bright and attractive chart.

London: Fisher, Sons, & Co, 1832. Hardcover. Good +. [1], 6-44 p.: 20 leaves of steel-engraved plates; 29 cm. Half speckled calf; six spine compartments between gilt rules with red morocco spine label in second compartment reading "Views." Marbled paper over boards. Engraved title page. Caption and running title: Picturesque Illustrations of Westmorland, Cumberland, Durham, and Northumberland. This title was issued in parts and this volume apparently contains only the first part. It is bound with parts of "Devonshire Illustrated, in a Series of Views" (Fisher, Son & Co., 1832), consisting of an engraved title page, one unpaginated page, pages 6-8, 13-28, 53-60, 105-108, and 16 leaves of engraved plates (possibly a publisher's dummy?). Each leaf has two views. In Good+ Condition: edges rubbed; front joint just starting to separate from tail of spine; lower corner of front board scraped; foxing.

Bickers and Son, London, 1880. Hardcover (approx 5.75 x 8.75 (15 x 22 cm)), 404 pages. Good+ condition. With twelve illustrations reproduced in exact facsimile from drawings made during the voyages. Blue boards with gold trim (two thin lines) decorative gold inlay along edges. Five raised gilt bands evenly spaced across spine. Decorative gold inlay and book title (on faux gold/brown square) between bands. The boards are bumped, rubbed and scratched. Rubbed, with spotting along spine hinges and board edges. The top corner of the front board is rubbed off, revealing the underlaying board. There is what appears to be moisture/water stain across the bottom of the front board. Marbled pastedowns and free endpapers. Pages foxing/browning. There is a very neat inscription dated July 28, 1882 (the book presented as an award) from a school headmaster to a pupil on the free page opposite the half title page. No evidence that a volume 2 ever appeared. Engraved folding map with inset scenes as frontispiece, a little spotted and open at one fold. Bird's-eye views of the villa plan of Nottingham Park also present as called for, this rather more foxed and with greater wear along folds. Other engravings in text. Wide ranging and thoroughly entertaining guide, seemingly willing to explore attractions missed by others (eg. Mr Hall's Starch Works, New Lenton, and descents into the coal pits of Notts) among all the usual topics. All in good internal order. Just occasional foxing. Straight, tight and clean with no markings, light spine-end and corner wear. The first and only book by Kathleen Eaton Cannell (1891 – 1974), usually known as Kitty Cannell, a Paris-based American dance and fashion correspondent for major U.S. newspapers and periodicals, wife of Roger Vitrac the French surrealist playwright and poet, and friend of William Carlos Williams, Harold Loeb, and Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley. In A Farewell to Arms Hemingway based the character Helen Ferguson on Kitty, also the character Frances Clyne in The Sun Also Rises. A memoir of her childhood, which was spent shuttling back and forth between the U.S. and Canada.
