Volume XV, No. I, pp. 24.With many wood engraved illustrations. Bound in quarter sheep with marbled boards. Spine and covers are well rubbed and worn. Outer hinges and head caps are professionally restored; board corner tips are neatly repaired. Interior is foxed. Owner's name is written in an old hand in the margins of several pages. Upper marginal corners are chipped on pp. 41-44 (Vol. XIV, No. II). The journal describes itself as "devoted to phrenology, physiology, magnetism, education, mechanism, agriculture, and to all those progressive measures which are calculated to reform, elevate, and improve mankind." Fine, apparently unread copy, with prev. owner bkplt., in jackets with internal tape stains, where protective covers were affixed. These have leached through, and are visible on front and rear flaps. Otherwise, the jackets are exceptionally bright and clean. Overweight item will require extra postage..

The Aquarian Press, 1985. Tarot cards. Used- Very Good condition. Tarot deck includes a small 39 page book that fits in the book. The book is slightly discolored, has a scuff along the bottom on the front cover, small tear and fold on the top of page 35, and creasing and tearing on the top corner on pg. 37-39. The box has some scuffing on the edges and corners. All 78 tarot cards plus 2 information cards are included in the deck. The cards are all nice and clean. No markings in the book or on the cards. Green cloth with gilt titles and gilt checkerboard cover design, decorative endpapers echoing the design. Printed in brown ink on cream colored paper, a very attractive production. Ten or so pages have a single bracket in the margin, a few pages have light notation (a few words), mild foxing to top and front edges, otherwise very good plus in very good plus dust jacket. . 1st. Hard. Very Good Plus/Very Good Plus. 8vo.

Billingshurst: The Bookplate Society in association with The Keridwen Press, 1988. 1st edition. Paperback. Octavo (21 x 15 cm). 35 pages, 23 of which are b&w reproductions of the bookplates. (Also a b&w photograph of the artist as a frontispiece.) Part of a limited run of 500 copies, 140 of which were numbered and signed by the author. This is copy number 75: the number is inked on the reverse of the title page, the signature on the Introduction page that follows it. Very Good in Good jacket. Text a little shelf-soiled in its bottom corner, near the fore-edge. Jacket has faded around the spine, which is also a bit tanned at its foot.

Philadelphia and London: The Biddle Press / Headley Bros., 1908. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 12mo. 69 pages. Hardcover bound in light tan quarter cloth with brown paper-covered boards and housed in a red dust jacket which may or may not be original to the book. (The jacket does not have the book's title but states "...with best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" from Nicholson's Book Shop in Richmond, Indiana). The jacket is heavily damped and worn. This has minimal effect on the binding, but there is a bit of damping on the lower corner of the first few pages, and there is heavy red damping in the rear flyleaf. The book is sound and is clean within. Scarce.

Boards contain some rubbing and wear. A name is printed in an early hand on the front free fly-leaf. Interior pages are generally clean. Corner crease is present on p. 123. Canonicus is the pseudonym of William Shedd (1797-1830), a New England evangelist preacher who was minister for one year at Abington Ma. His "Letters", addressed to William E. Channing (1780-1842), the influential Boston Unitarian preacher, were written in opposition to Unitarian tendencies to deny the agency and personal existence of the devil and his angels. The author, with the use of Biblical scripture argues for the existence of Satan and of fallen spirits.

Large and heavy volume measuring 9" x 6" x 1 1/2". xv + 446 pages + 2 pages publisher's ads. In VERY GOOD condition. Bright and clean, tightly bound and square, with strong uncracked hinges. Spine is not sun-faded and gilt illustration and lettering are bright and unworn. Chipped and frayed top spine end and a tiny chip at the bottom spine end. Rubbed top front corner. Boards have some very faint small stains. Flawless interior with no browning to endpapers and only slight age-toning to pages with no foxing. No previous owner markings..

Interior pages are clean with foxing expected from wartime paper. A very nice rare copy.
