Rare books from A Ranger's Collection

Very little has been said about "The Volunteers", a band of british people from every walk of life who volunteered to fight the Russians following their invasion of Finland. This book is a captivating read that goes into detail with soldiers, airmen, ambulance personnel and firemen, and with the tragi-comi incidents which followed their demobilization after the end of the Winter War in March 1940 and which only ended when the last one was repatriated late in 1942. Much of the information given has been obtained by special permission from official Finnish and Swedish archives and is now in print for the first time. Book includes copies of photographs taken during this time (1939 - 1941). Condition: This book has never been read and stored for many years. The book has a small area front bottom right corner that is dented and the dust cover at that area has a very small tear. Please see photos.

Volume 1 describes the Royal Armoury in Stockholms extensive collection of firearms. It gives the history of each firearm, and sources of information with color and black and white photos of firearms used by the Swedish Kings of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. During parts of this period Sweden was a Great Power thus the large collection of magnificent firearms.

CONDITION: This is a very well preserved reference book that appears as new. The only blemish noted upon close inspection are some light signs of age on the top and bottom edges of the dust cover.
