An extremely rare copy in very good condition after 143 years. The gilt lettering and black illustration on the green cloth cover board and spine are in very good condition although there is some bumping and wear on the corners and edges. The text block is age toned and the binding is intact. There is no dust jacket. This inscribed copy was gift to a young girl, Ada Bullers, for her work at the Hunslet Sunday School, Leeds, UK in 1879. This is the memoir of Mrs. Jane Tucker, the wife of the Rev. Charles Tucker, "Sometimes missionary to Haabai and Tonga" in the South Pacific. The book was written by her niece who spent time with her aunt during her later years back in England. Both women were "Halls", a well known family name in early Weslayan history. 132 pp

Very Collectible British edition, 2nd reprint October 1934 Royal blue cloth boards with gilt lettering showing very slight bumping on the ends of the spine. Tiny label from Bookseller, Hull, UK on bottom of back end paper. The binding is intact and secure. The dust jacket is protected with a Brodart cover. The D/J is illustrated by Bip Pares. There are some missing pieces and wear on the D/J edges. Latin inscription in blue print on the end papers. The text block is clean and unmarked with age toning. pp 128

Finely bound in dark green Morocco boards with marbled end papers and gilt edges. "Blake" in gilt on the cover and gilt on the slight faded spine. The edges of the cover boards show wear and the top of the spine is frayed. The interior hinges are cracked but the binding is secure. Previous owner's name (apparently a gift from the author's daughter). Frontispiece portrait of Major-General Fred Middleton with tissue guard; fold-out map in color. Two minor worn spots on front hinge.

This attractive volume was rebound in 1984 in red Morocco leather. This volume includes the original cover and all original pages, including 2 fold-out maps on linen. Original owner's name inscribed (purchased 1877).

Red cloth boards, stamped in silver. some edge wear, especially to spine. Mark on cover back. Binding is tight, but slightly exposed at a few junctures (see pic). One torn page (207 -- see pic). A few minor discolorations in the text. Inscribed to previous owner, 1898. First edition, first printing of Civil War memoirs from a Confederate point of view.
