Couch, Wm. H. Osborn, and others -- A Complete Guide to the Indian Territory, Illustrated with Map, Hunting and Fishing Grounds, by (authors)." E. E. Dale, in his bibliography of the range… Read More

The original green paper covers were removed when bound & are therefore not present. Decorated title label (a little worn & browned) on spine. 720pp. Illust. This copy was a gift from the famous Western historian, E. A. Brininstool. In ink on the ffep is written, "L. H. Spragle from my ole' pard E. A. Brininstool Los Angeles Calif. Nov/1918." The copy is not signed, however, by Brininstool. One of the rarest & most sought of all outlaw & law enforcement books, this is the story of Judge Isaac C. Parker's Fort Smith federal court which served Indian Territory for many years. This book is a primary source for countless books on territorial outlaws & lawmen. Very good condition, although the upper corner of the text block was bumped resulting in compression bending across the corner on each page -- typical for a… Read More

Philadelphia: L. H. Everts & Co, 1887. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible Very Good. 1st printing. Huge quarto original one-half cloth & leather. 339pps. This is a fabulous volume. Here is what William Reese (Six Score #83) said of it in his bibliography of 150 best ranching books: "These atlases were designed so that pages could be tipped in. I doubt that any two copies are exactly alike. Pagination through page 340 (this copy 339 with verso blank), although there are many unnumbered pages of views. There are over 300 colored maps, views depicting over 350 scenes, and as many as 25 folding tissue maps interleave, as well as unpaginated text. 44.5 x 38 cm." (15" x 18"). Reese continues: "This massive compilation contains a vast wealth of information on Kansas at the time of publication. Many of the views depict stock ranches, which are also located on the extremely detailed maps. There are many bird's-eye views of towns and sights. Much of the accompanying text is devoted to listing the leading… Read More

Oklahoma City: Oklahoma Historical Society, 1921. First Edition. Soft cover. Good+. THE CHRONICLES OF OKLAHOMA - COMPLETE SET, RARE THUS, 1921-2006 (Fall issue), + 23 pamphlet indices of various years + cloth bound index Vol. I - XXXVII (1921-1959). I have been selling and collecting good Oklahoma material, inclusive Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory for nearly 50 years.  Aside from my personal set of the Chronicles, which took me years to compile, I have never seen a complete set (up to the modern era) for sale.  Beginning in 1921, the historical society, organized in 1893, published its first issue, Volume 1, #1.  Later that year (1921) Volume 1 #2 was published.  Because of financial shortages, Volume 1 #3 was not published until 1923. There was no #4 published.  Beginning in 1924, four issues were published a year without a break.  When I compiled my set I learned of the gap 1921-1923 and verified it's details.  With the acquisition of the set here offered for sale, I reached out to… Read More

Description:
Lancaster: G. Hills, 1841. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. Collectible Good. 2nd edition, 1841 title page, with 1839 first edition pagination. Original boards, but rebound with new spine and leather-looking material extending past the joints and on the board fore edges covering the entire fore edges. Title stamped in gilt on spine. New endpapers. 507pp. The 1841 edition calls for 511pp, so I don't know why the 1839 pagination is in this volume. Howes P619 lists variant issues. This copy has seven engravings. The double page foldout of Braddock's defeat is bound in upside down & is missing about 1/5 of the lower right of the image. Two of the illustrations are full page and we believe include the essential visual information, but in each case there may have been a foldout extension with additional visual material or border. Engravings include portraits of Brant and Danial Boone. One interesting fold out engraving shows three Indian women bathing a white man in a river or pool of some sort. It is quite… Read More

Description:
n.p.: North American Productions, Oreg., Ltd, 1977. Soft cover. Fine. ORIGINAL movie poster (not one of the reproductions) of one of the better Bigfoot movies according to David Coleman, author of The Bigfoot Filmography. Near fine to fine on glossy stock in folded condition (and will be shipped folded) with folds showing. A whopping 27" x 41" in beautiful color. A dramatic image with great color. The poster reads in part, "The Incredible Story of Seven Men Who Defied Death in a Primitive Wilderness Where No Man Had Gone Before ... and Survived to Tell the Shocking Story of this Legendary Creature!" Coleman dedicated almost two full pages in his big, quarto-sized book to this film. I quote: "... notable in the genre for the strange yet fascinating tonal blend it achieves. At once a classic family-friendly nature film and a pseudo-documentary ..." "Remarkably and against all odds ... (the film) skillfully balances the multiple genre formats with assured directorial ease." "The film is also notable… Read More
