Firman (Imperial order) of the Ottoman Sultan Murad Khan IV dated 996 H ( November 1588 AD. ) in 31 lines, ordering the Ottoman citizens not to prevent the book dealers (whos names are mentioned in the Firman and seem to be Italian Book dealers.. Branton and Horacio (?) sons of Bandini ) from traviling in the Ottoman states and selling their Arabic, Turkish and Persian books freely. In early 20th c. dark green hard covers. almost un-cutted wide margins of papers. 32.5 x 22.5 cm. Copy in vey good condition.

Mounted in framework measured 72x61 cm. The painting is signed in red on the left bottom; Mehmed Hilal or Mehmed Jemal (?) and dedicated on the revers in pencil to an Ottoman scholar; Faziletlu Arif efendi piraderimiz yadigarimdir 14 Sevval 1318 (my dedication to my brother his virtue Arif Effendi 3-2-1901). In contemporary hard covers binding. FIRST AND ONLY EDITION OF THE JIHANNUMA. Planned as a great cosmosgraphy, the work was never completed, although Katib Celebi wrote two versions. The text contained here is the second version, rewritten after the author had acquired a Mercator-Hondius Atlas minor (Koemans mistakenly considered the Jihannuma a translation into Turkish of that Atlas). It covers the world from Japan to the Ottoman borders and is well-illustrated with engraved maps, including: the World in twin hemispheres, the World in oval projection, Europe, Africa, Asia, America, the North and South Poles, Arabia, Japan and various other parts of Asia and Asia Minor. 106 p. of Arabic autograph manuscript written by the author in Riq'aa script in back with many diagrams and mathematical shapes. Isma'il Pasha b. Serheng b. Abdullah al Giridi (initially from Crete) born and died in Egypt . He was a historian and admiral in the Egyptian navy . He learned in the naval school where he appointed as a director there , then a deputy of the ministry of war . He participated in the revolutionary movement of Orabi Pasha but didn't judged . Beside Arabic, he was fluent in English , French, Italian, Turkish, and some in Russian. He wrote a comprehensive work on history called : Haqa'iq al Akhbar 'an Doual al Bihar , which printed in three volumes in Bulaq , Cairo. (Khayr du Din al Zirikli : al A'laam vol. 1 p. 310)

1) Vankulu Lugatı, Arabic-Turkish dictionary prepared by Mehmed al-Vani, (d. 1529) known as Vankulu, from Cevheri's well-known Arabic dictionary. It was published as two volumes on 31 January 1729, 500 copies.
2) Tuhfetü'l-kibâr fî esfâri'l-bihâr (Kâtib Çelebi's work on Ottoman naval wars) includes 5 maps and images. On 29 May 1729, 1,000 copies were published.
3) Târîh-i Seyyâh der Beyân-ı Zuhûr-ı Ağvâniyân ve Sebeb-i İnhidâm-ı Binâ-i Devlet-i Şâhân-ı Safaviyân (The Afghan Invasion of Iran and the Reasons for the Downfall of Safavid Dynasty). Author J. T. Krusinski (d. 1756). Although the translator from Latin to Turkish seems to have been done by İbrahim Müteferrika, it has been asserted that it was translated by Krusinski himself. On 26 August 1729, 1,200 copies were published.

Sanizade, who lived in the first half of the 19th century, is an important physician for his great contributions to the Ottoman Medicine, by transferring European medical knowledge. He has important books concerning history, as well as medicine. In one of his works on medicine, Hamse-i Sanizade, a work of five volumes, the volume titled Kanunü'l Cerrahin (the Law of Surgery), deals with surgery.
